As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, two pedestrian underpasses are being constructed under the Kichi Zībī Mīkan. Their construction requires lane reductions on Kichi Zībī Mīkan eastbound and westbound, between Woodroffe Avenue and Island Park Drive.
What
Two segments of theKichi Zībī Mīkan will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
When
November 2023 until spring 2024.
Why
Construction of the new Cleary Pedestrian Underpass and Churchill Pedestrian Underpass including temporary roadworks, earthwork and foundation work, and structures work for the new underpasses.
Where
Kichi Zībī Mīkan eastbound and westbound between Cleary Avenue and Wavell Avenue as well as between Westboro Beach and Island Park Drive.

Anticipated Impacts
Residents living along Kichi Zībī Mīkan between Cleary Avenue and Wavell Avenue and between Westboro Beach and Island Park Drive may experience noise and vibrations from equipment working in the area including excavators, bulldozers and trucks.
Site lighting for overnight work will be required and crews will place and/or direct the light to mitigate impact on residents.
Motorists should adhere to detours, traffic control signage, posted speed limits, allow for added travel time and use extra caution when moving through active construction corridors as traffic patterns change.
Pedestrians and cyclists should use extra caution and adhere to posted signage when localized detours are in-place, to ensure safety.
The safety of the public and workers is paramount, and we thank you for your patience during construction.
