The Provincial Government is now accepting applications from municipalities for the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program – Community, Culture and Recreation.
This infrastructure program is to be funded jointly by the federal, provincial and municipal governments for a combined value of over $900 million over the next 10 years. The municipal share of each project approved will be 26.67%. Ottawa’s anticipated allocation is approximately $65 million.Eligible asset types include recreation facilities (arenas, recreation centres and recreation facilities such as playing fields, tennis courts and park amenities ); cultural facilities (theatres, libraries, museums, cultural centres and civic squares); community centres/hubs; education and health facilities advancing Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action. Projects must be completed by March 31, 2027.
The deadline for making project applications is November 12, 2019. Project approval is estimated to be in the spring/summer of 2020. Given that the 2020 budget will already be approved prior to project approval the City will be making applications for projects planned for after 2020. This will ensure that projects planned for 2020 will not be disrupted or at risk and ensure that project expenses will not be incurred prior to approval and therefore will be ineligible for reimbursement.
