A massive earthquake on February 6 devastated 10 provinces in Türkiye and northern Syria. When a natural disaster like this occurs, Ottawa residents want to know how best they can help.
The monetary donations can be directed to the Canadian Red Cross, which is responding in both Türkiye and Syria. The Government of Canada is matching these donations until February 22.
The monetary donations can also be made to The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) and Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV). More info: http://ottawa.emb.mfa.gov.tr/Mission/ShowAnnouncement/400545
At this point, monetary donations are encouraged rather than in kind goods.
To donate goods (unused only), you can contact Turkish Association of Canada. The priority items are polar tents, blankets, sleeping bags, hygiene products. Items can be dropped off at two locations in Ottawa:
