Hike for Hospice Care Ottawa is an annual tradition across Canada that celebrates the arrival of spring. This year, Hike for Hospice Care Ottawa will take place at Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre (102 Greenview Avenue). Starting at Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre, the 5 km hike will stroll along the path by the Ottawa River to Andrew Hayden Park and then return back to Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre for refreshments and closing ceremonies.
The goal of Hospice Care Ottawa is to enhance the quality of end-of-life care and provide comfort to those on life’s most difficult journey. Right from diagnosis with a life-limiting illness, they provide support through community programs (Day Hospice, and In-Home volunteer visitor support) through to 24-hour care at one of our two residential hospices, through to death, and grief, bereavement, caregiver and family support throughout the journey and beyond. Programs are offered at no cost to individuals they serve and their families. Fundraising events like Hike for Hospice Care Ottawa are key as they are only partially funded and must raise over $2.2million annually to continue their important work.
