Fundraising Event for Turkish Earthquakes taking place at Ottawa City Hall on March 5, 2023, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. This event is organized by the Council of Turkish-Canadians, the Turkish Canadian Cultural Association and the Canadian and Turkish Women’s Association of Ottawa, with support from the Turkish Embassy in Ottawa.
Türkiye was hit by two earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.7 and 7.6 on February 6, 2023, which left behind over 30,000 unusable residential buildings, the loss of more than 43,000 lives, and injury of more than 150,000 people.
The scale of the tragedy is immense with an estimated of 15 million people affected, either directly or indirectly. The affected region, which spans an area equivalent to the size from Windsor to Ottawa, is facing enormous challenges and need help.
