The Friends of the Central Experimental Farm is pleased to announce the publication of an appealing and informative book about the buildings at the Central Experimental Farm in Ottawa. With vivid historic and contemporary photographs, Building Canada’s Farm celebrates the Farm’s many achievements and the people responsible for them working in specially-designed heritage buildings at one of our country’s most precious landscapes.
“The buildings remind us of the Farm’s unique and historic roles over time,” say authors Richard Hinchcliff and Patricia Jasen, “as a model farm, a social community, and a research centre of growing international importance.” Hinchcliff has been photographing the Farm and researching its history for many years, and Jasen has been delving into the Farm’s history ever since she moved to Ottawa a few years ago.
The book, priced at $25, is available from November 19 online at friendsofthefarm.ca/boutique, or in person at the Friends of the Farm Office in Building 72, Central Experimental Farm, and in local bookstores.
