The Planning Committee will consider amendments to flood plain mapping in Ottawa’s urban areas. This is the third phase of updates to mapping within the Zoning By-law. Development on lands within the flood plain is prohibited under City planning policies like the Official Plan, as well as the Provincial Policy Statement.
The Planning Committee will consider changes to flood plain mapping near waterways that include Shirley’s Brook, Feedmill Creek, Carp River, Poole Creek, Watt’s Creek, Kizell Drain, Bear Brook River and East Savage Creek. Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee will consider rural mapping on Thursday, October 3.
