I appreciate Commissioner Paul Rouleau’s final report regarding the Federal government invoking the Emergencies Act. This was a tense time in our city with many residents directly affected by a truck convoy that took over, not just Wellington Street but residential streets in the central core of our city causing much anguish and fear.
The Federal government met a very high threshold to invoke this act citing failure in policing and federalism. It was “a drastic move but it was not a dictatorial one”.
Here is a copy of the report. The city of Ottawa has committed to give their reaction to this report in the near future.
Today I attended the Audit Committee as a member and asked questions related to reports on the city’s relationship with the Ottawa Police Services during the convoy occupation. Here is a link to this report plus 3 others we look at this morning.
