You can sit, skate, stroll and stretch your way through June with these events at Lansdowne and City Hall
Hey, Ottawa. Free community events at Lansdowne Park and City Hall are back. There’s something for everyone, so be sure to mark your calendars and come on Downe to Lansdowne Park and City Hall! Chamberfest City series at City Hall City Hall will resound with the sounds of chamber music as Chamberfest presents a series of free lunchtime concerts. Talented local musicians will perform on various dates from noon to 1 pm as a prelude to the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival. There are two upcoming concerts in June: Tuesday, June 13: Emily Kruspe and Friends Tuesday, June 20: Steinway Young ArtistsLearn more about these concerts and talented performers on chamberfest.com. Full Moon Yoga on the Great Lawn The City of Ottawa and its yoga partners are happy to announce another season of free Full Moon Yoga at Lansdowne! These wonderful moonlit classes are open to all levels, so join us, de-stress, and improve your flexibility and strength. It’s a perfect way to relax and to find some peace in your busy life. The first class, presented by City of Om, is taking place on Saturday, June 3 from 9 to 10 pm on the Great Lawn. Sunrise walks at the Horticulture Building More of a morning person? See Lansdowne Park in a new light with Sunrise Walks, a free 30-minute walk happening every Thursday this June at 7 am. Lead by Happiness Habits 613 co-leads Stephen Bierbrier and Tamara Robinson, these walks will start at the Horticulture Building. The kickoff is on Thursday, June 1. Keep an eye out for the happy face flag. All fitness levels and ages are welcome – let’s all take the first step together! Free bike check-ins at Lansdowne Park This month, the City is happy to partner with EnviroCentre for Let’s Bike Month. As part of our celebrations, City of Ottawa’s Safer Roads and partners including EnviroCentre will be setting up at Lansdowne Park offering mini tune-ups and safety checks on a first come, first serve basis. Tuesday, June 13, 4 to 6 pm Saturday, June 17 – 9 am to 4 pm Sunday, June 18 – 9 am to 4 pm Wednesday, June 21 – 1 to 7 pm Mechanics will check all components, lube and grease the chain, and adjust whatever is needed. If you need new parts, mechanics will advise you to visit your local bike shop. Drop-in indoor roller skating at Aberdeen Pavillion Drop in at Lansdowne on Tuesday nights from 7:45 to 8:45 pm for some family-friendly roller-skating fun! All levels are welcome and participants are encouraged to bring quad or inline skates. Helmets are required for children 10 years and under. The spring session ends Tuesday, June 6 and the summer session begins Tuesday, July 4.
