Background
As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, crews and equipment will be working overnight on Woodroffe Avenue for the relocation of two watermain valves. This work involves a lane closure and asphalt removal, which must be done during off-peak hours to maintain daytime traffic flow.
Watermain valve replacement. Lights, noise, and vibration from construction involving excavation, hydro-vac truck operations, and possible rock breaking during initial excavation. Crews will be using a quiet model of hydro-vac truck.
This work is required to be done during overnight hours to minimize impact to mobility in the area, as a closure of a section of the southbound lane on Woodroffe Avenue is required.
Anticipated Impacts
Residents nearby can expect to hear noise and vibration from crews and machinery. Noise and vibrations will be monitored and reported to the City. A traffic lane reduction will be in place on Woodroffe Avenue North, with a flag person assisting traffic flow. Pedestrian connectivity will be maintained with a detour around the work zone, via the east sidewalk.
