Richmond Rd – Underground Infrastructure Installation for Queensview LRT Station

Description:

Construction noise associated with digging and installation of Hydro Ottawa duct structures at Richmond Rd and Pinecrest Rd, Richmond Rd and Carling Ave, and Richmond Rd at Poutin Ave.  The installation of Hydro Ottawa duct structures is for LRT Phase 2 servicing for both the Queeensview and Bayshore LRT stations.

Background

As part of the continuing west LRT Stage 2 development, Hydro Ottawa will be completing a project involving the installation of duct structures and manholes to supply the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Stage 2 located at the Queensview LRT Station. This work is necessary to maintain the reliability of the electrical distribution system in this area and provide increased capacity to meet the LRT Stage 2 requirements.

Starting on October 12, 2021, work will be completed on Richmond Rd. from Pinecrest Rd. to Sir John A. MacDonald Parkway(work will also take place on Croydon Ave., Starflower Lane and Assaly Rd.), work is planned for completion by March 28, 2022.

There are no planned power outages expected for the duration of this project.

Overall, this work includes:
● The installation of approximately 1655m of duct structure;
● The installation of 13 new manholes to supply power to the LRT
● The installation of new underground cables to service the LRT Station
