Notice of Ramp Closure Highway 417 and Pinecrest Road

As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project motorists travelling Highway 417, and area residents, should anticipate mobility impacts as crews work to relocate Hydro Ottawa infrastructure at Highway 417 and Pinecrest Road. This work requires the temporary closure of the westbound on-ramp.
WHAT: Closure of Pinecrest Road’s southbound to Highway 417 on-ramp. The sidewalk on the west side of Pinecrest Road over Highway 417 will be closed, and pedestrians will be directed to the east sidewalk. Pedestrians can cross Pinecrest Road at DuMaurier Avenue and Iris Street.
Traffic will be detoured via Baseline Road to Richmond Road then to Holly Acres onto Highway 417 westbound. Signage will be in place ahead of the closure and during the closure period.
WHEN: September 7-19, 2021
WHY: Deep excavation underneath the westbound 417 on-ramp is required to install underground hydro equipment and connect existing infrastructure. Operations require a safe and dedicated working area with access for heavy equipment and deliveries.
WHERE: Southbound Pinecrest Road on-ramp to westbound Highway 417.
ANTICIPATED IMPACTS
Noise and vibration from trucks and heavy equipment is expected. Signed detours will be in-place during the ramp closure. Motorists should adhere to detours, traffic control signage, posted speed limits, and use extra caution as traffic patterns change. Motorists should allow for added travel time when moving through active construction corridors. For residents whose property borders Highway 417, equipment in the area may cause additional noise and occasional vibration as the work progresses. The City of Ottawa thanks residents for their patience as we work to complete these construction activities.
