Climate change and the new Official Plan Information Session

To achieve its vision to be the most livable mid-sized city in North America, Ottawa must be an energy conscious city where people can live, work and play in all future climate conditions.
The new Official Plan policies integrate climate change using two distinct pathways:
- Mitigation: actions that reduce the amount of greenhouse gases the city emits
- Adaptation: actions that prepare us for the impacts of a changing climate
The City holding a virtual information session on February 23, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm where you can find out more about how the Draft Official Plan aligns with the City’s Climate Change Master Plan and the community target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 100 per cent by 2050. The session will include a presentation of the policies in support of climate mitigation and adaptation. An introduction to a new implementation tool called the High-performance Development Standard will also be provided. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer period with the project team.
