Come speak with representatives from the various departments within the City of Ottawa. Learn about current and upcoming job opportunities and ask questions to knowledgeable staff about these positions.
Break Out Sessions/ Workshops (will run from 1pm – 6pM)
CREATE YOUR CITY ON-LINE PROFILE
Come learn how to create your personal on-line City profile so you can apply to careers at the City of Ottawa. This will be a ‘hands-on’ session for participants to walk through and actually create their profile. You will also learn more about the Staffing process at the City and have an opportunity to ask questions. Participants are asked to please bring a listing of their work experience to help complete their profile (preferably on a USB stick if possible). Space is limited in each session (20 participants) to ensure personalized attention to questions.
RESUME & COVER LETTER BUILDING WORKSHOP
Come out to this fun and engaging session to learn best practices to create a strong resume and cover letter that will get noticed.
CAREER QUESTIONS – HOT TOPICS Panel discussion
Come out and have a discussion with representatives from the City of Ottawa as well as our Community partner associations. This will be a great networking opportunity as well as an opportunity to have your questions answered.

WHY/ WHAT
To showcase the City and the various positions and skills sets the City is looking to attract. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about current and upcoming job opportunities and ask questions to knowledgeable staff. The workshops being hosted are aimed at breaking down barriers to employment and will be designed to provide networking opportunities to job seekers. This event will also be an opportunity to involve our community partners such as those that support various diverse groups and local educational institutions.
BACKGROUND
On October 3rd, the City of Ottawa is hosting its second City-led Career Showcase. The City is dedicated to a workplace built on the values of respect, equity and inclusion – removing barriers and ensuring everyone has an opportunity to realize their talents and potential. To ensure the inclusivity of the event, the City will be communicating and engaging directly with Community partners to gain their input on the event.
