Notice from Ottawa Hydro
Starting the week of March 27, Hydro Ottawa along with a civil contractor is initiating a project that involves the installation of a duct structure and maintenance hole at the intersection of Richmond Road and Assaly Road. This project has an estimated completion date of April 8, 2022. Please note that Hydro Ottawa continues to follow the provincial directives surrounding COVID-19 and would like to confirm that this work has been deemed essential to providing a safe and reliable supply of power to our customers.
Understanding that this is a sensitive time with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic with many residents working from home, we recognize that any construction activities and power outages can be very disruptive. Our goal with this work is to maintain the electricity system so we can increase system reliability and reduce unplanned outages from occurring in the future.
Overall, this work will include:
- removal/replacement of existing concrete sidewalk;
- lane reductions;
- sidewalk and bicycle lane closures at site; and
- installation of a new duct bank and maintenance hole.
There are no scheduled power outages associated with this work. Customers will receive a written notice delivered to their door advising them of these upgrades. Residents and businesses may notice increased construction presence throughout the project, including construction vehicles. Traffic control and lane reductions will be implemented throughout the project to ensure that roads remain safe to residents and staff.
Our qualified staff and contractors will conduct this work safely and efficiently, ensuring that any inconvenience is minimal. Crews will be on-site daily from 7:00 am – 5:00 pm with overnight work taking place from 6:30 pm – 6:00 am.
