As International Volunteer Day 2020 takes place tomorrow, let’s recognize the valuable contributions of the thousands of volunteers in Bay Ward and the City of Ottawa.
Throughout the world, despite facing their own difficulties during the pandemic, individuals have come forward to assist their neighbours and others in need. The theme of International Volunteer Day (IVD) 2020, Together We Can Through Volunteering, intends to thank volunteers worldwide, and highlights the impact of volunteers in their communities throughout the crisis.
In our own community, while some volunteer supported programs have been temporarily suspended throughout the pandemic, other local organizations had a significant increase in demand for the services they provide, and they were in great need of additional volunteer support.
Not surprisingly, the residents of Ottawa have once again stepped forward, and many have signed up to offer assistance with current COVID-19 volunteer opportunities.
The City of Ottawa appreciates the generous support of those who come forward to assist their fellow citizens during a crisis. Whether volunteering virtually, or while following safe protocols within the community, Together We Can get through this!
