Carling and Edgeworth Intersection Reconstruction
This ongoing project includes:
- Curb extensions on the southwest, southeast, and northwest corners.
- Realignment of pedestrian crosswalks.
- Upgrades to the westbound bus stop.
- Modifications to curbs, medians, and sidewalks, with general upgrades to meet AODA standards.
- Extensions of the existing westbound and eastbound left-turn lanes.
- Removal of the eastbound right-turn lane on Carling Avenue.
Winter Milestones:
- By December 4, 2024: All new curbs are scheduled to be installed.
- By December 10, 2024: Temporary asphalt for sidewalks, curb cut road paving, and demobilization from the site are expected to be completed.
- Line painting for new crosswalks, lane markings, and symbols is planned to coincide with demobilization.
Traffic Signal Adjustments:
- Traffic Signals are scheduled to adjust existing pedestrian displays and relocate them to new positions within the intersection starting January 9, 2024. During this period, the west crosswalk will be temporarily closed. The pedestrian display heads will be bagged, and appropriate signage will be in place to guide pedestrians.
- Efforts will be made to expedite traffic signal adjustments if possible.
Connaught & Severn Sidewalk
This project is affected by a temporary emergency construction restriction (“no dig zone”). While most work is complete, the project is preparing for winter shutdown. Remaining tasks, including top lifts, reinstatement, streetlights, and landscaping, will resume in spring.
Note: A section of sidewalk on Connaught Avenue between Severn and Roman has been descoped due to ongoing LRT work.
