The City of Ottawa is conducting a review of special event regulations, and we would like to hear from you.
This review will include both the Special Events on City Streets By-law (No.2001-260) and the Special Events on Private and Public Property By-law (No. 2013-232). The Event Central office will be working with the Public Policy Development branch of Emergency and Protective Services and the Traffic Management branch of Public Works, as well as members of the Special Events Advisory Team (SEAT), to explore key issues as part of this review, such as:
- Permit requirements and processes
- Costs
- Safety and security
- Accessibility and inclusivity
- Environmental impacts
This review will take place over the course of 2024, with staff reports and recommendations anticipated for Committee and Council consideration in early 2025. More information is available on the project’s Engage Ottawa webpage.
Should you choose to register as a stakeholder, you will receive email invitations to consultation opportunities and surveys, as well as notification of key milestones and decisions. We maintain an open-door policy, so we welcome opportunities for discussion and collaboration and are always available to answer your questions between consultations.
