Option 1 Selected – Construction Impacts on Transit Byron / Richmond Rd Meeting Sept 14

The LRT Stage 2 construction on Richmond Rd between Richardson and Sherbourne is affecting transit services.  OC Transpo is unable to ensure riders safety and accessibility for a stretch of Richmond Road. As a result, some bus stops on the south side of Richmond will need to be removed from service. Bus stops on the north side of Richmond Rd will not be affected.

On September 14, Councillor Kavanagh held an information session that outlined different options. A majority of participants noted their preference for Option 1 – which is to remove the stops and continue the buses on Richmond Rd. The City will be implementing Option 1.

Options that were presented (Option 1 selected)

1. Starting Sept 21, 2020 – Bus stops are temporarily removed (until the end of 2022) and buses continue on Richmond Rd
2. Some bus stops are relocated to local streets
3. In all scenarios distances to bus stops will increase for some riders
