What is changing for residents who receive Ontario Works assistance, and why are these changes happening?
- Beginning January 1, 2024, Ontario Works will no longer offer employment programs or provide employment related funds to residents who receive Ontario Works assistance.
- Residents will work with Employment Ontario service providers to help them find or get ready for work.
- Ontario Works will continue to be responsible for delivering case management services to residents that focus on financial needs that are not employment related and connecting them to supports and services that help address barriers they may have that are impacting their job readiness.
- These changes are happening as part of the provincial government’s vision to transform Ontario’s employment services to make them more efficient and responsive to job seeker needs.
