Ottawa – Sharpen your blades and lace up your skates: The Jim Tubman Chevrolet Rink opens tomorrow and Lansdowne Park Skating Court is scheduled to open on Friday to kick-off the new skating season. City Hall’s Rink of Dreams and Centrepointe’s Ben Franklin Skating Rink are expected to open next week – weather permitting.
Access to these outdoor refrigerated ice surfaces is on a first-come, first-served basis. Each rink has its own capacity limit, based on the size of the ice surface, to ensure all skaters can maintain proper physical distancing.
When using the rinks, think about other skaters by practicing COVIDwise etiquette and limiting your ice time to 30 minutes during busy times so everyone can get a chance to skate.
Ottawa Public Health reminds everyone that staying active is important to you and your family’s physical and mental health.
Throughout the season, visit ottawa.ca for skating times and any weather-related closures – such as warm or rainy conditions. Residents can also download the free City of Ottawa App, available now through the Apple Store or on Google Play, to get notifications on their handheld devices.
