Ottawa Friends of Tibet (OFT) are very excited to host the Celebrating Tibetan Culture in Canada’s Capital cultural fundraising event, in Bay Ward at the First Unitarian Congregation of Ottawa on Sunday October 1 from 4pm to 6pm. OFT is a volunteer run registered charity, founded 27 years ago by Ottawa residents, Jurme and Angela Wangda. They were the only Tibetans living here in Ottawa at that time, but now there is an Ottawa Tibetan Community Association, and many Tibetans live across the city.
OFT’s Tibetan volunteers are cooking up momos, daisee balls and butter tea to bring the flavours of Tibet to Ottawa. There will be traditional clothing, dancing and music from Tibet. Bazaar sales tables and a silent auction bring treasures made by Tibetan communities in India and Nepal to the Capital. This family friendly event has something for everyone!
