Westboro Village BIA Bell Box Mural Call for artists
Artists are invited to submit proposals for the painting of one of two Bell Boxes in Westboro Village. Painting of the boxes will happen in late spring/early summer 2024.
A Bell Box Mural is art painted on an outdoor telephone switch box belonging to Bell Canada.
Preference is given to young and emerging artists.
Artists will be chosen by the following criteria:
- Experience painting on outdoor surfaces
- A portfolio of past work
- A concept or sketch for the mural
Submission concepts should be themed around nature but are otherwise open to interpretation. The immediate community has a strong connection to music which could be represented through nature.
- Designs cannot contain advertisement or promotion for any business, product or viewpoint
- Designs may not include any breach of intellectual property, trademarks, brands or images of illegal activity
REQUIREMENTS & GUIDELINES
Artists and artist teams interested in participating in this mural project should submit ONE copy of each of the following:
- A letter of Interest of no more than one page explaining the artist’s interest in the project, and experience working on comparable projects.
- A resume not to exceed two pages, including artist training, professional experience, and art/public art commission.
- Work samples (including title, year, location, and image) of your past or current projects.
- A design concept sketch
- Complete contact information
- Professional references (upon request)
Final artists will be chosen by a panel of community partners with approval from Bell Canada.
