The NCC are aware of the possibility of spring flooding and have planned and scheduled the Britannia Wall rehabilitation project around the need to complete critical work (such as the assembly of the new wall) by mid-April. They are currently on track to have this work completed by the target dates. The total project, which includes pathway reinstatement, landscaping, and other items should be completed July/August.
The Ottawa River is currently tracking at typical seasonal levels. As the season evolves, residents can find more information on the Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board’s website, which includes specific statistical information for the Britannia area.
The City of Ottawa takes the lead on community flood preparedness and emergency response. NCC will work with the City on any emerging requirements during the spring freshet.
some residents have voiced their concerns regarding the elevation of the pathway, the elevation will be the same as it was previously once the section is re-paved. The excavation that has been seen is temporarily needed for the placement of the new pre-cast concrete wall system. It will not affect the overall height of the final pathway once the work is complete.
