On March 27, the City’s Public Works and Infrastructure Committee will consider some amended By-Law regulations to allow for expanded gardening opportunities, including food planting, on boulevards abutting residential properties.
The recommended by-law updates include:
- Removing the prohibition on plants intended in whole or in part for consumption
- Introducing provisions to allow stationary raised garden beds under certain restrictions
- Introducing provisions to allow moveable containers under certain restrictions
- Introducing provisions for plant supports to be used seasonally under certain restrictions
I will keep you posted on developments following the meeting next week.
