I am pleased to announce that the application for appointment to the Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) Advisory Committee is now open.
The application deadline is June 15, 2022.
To be eligible for appointment as one of the three volunteer Advisory Committee members, candidates must be 18 years of age or older and fulfill one of the following stated requirements:
- A person who represents an entity that provides community or social services in the municipality serving Indigenous, Black, racialized, 2SLGBTQQIA+ and/or persons with disabilities
- A person who represents an entity that provides community or social services to children or youth in the municipality serving Indigenous, Black, racialized, 2SLGBTQQIA+ and/or persons with disabilities

During the progress update provided to the Community and Protective Services Committee on April 21, staff announced that an Advisory Committee would be established as part of the new governance structure.
The Advisory Committee will bring together 14 organizational leaders, including these three positions, committed to working together towards common outcomes that are important to the community to improve Ottawa’s safety and well-being. This includes being vocal champions of the work while also bringing forward how their organizations and networks can align to the actions.
The Advisory Committee for the CSWB Plan will guide the strategic direction of the Plan, while City staff will provide administrative support. It will advise the other entities in the governance structure and over time bring forward proposed changes as progress is made to City Council.
Committee members will provide capacity building support and knowledge to the Community Leadership Action Teams as well as bringing their respective networks and institutional resources to support the Community Leadership Action Teams in the implementation of deliverables.
This is a good step forward for the CSWB Plan, which will bring leadership voices of grassroots to the planning process. Questions can be sent directly to the Community Safety and Well-Being Office at cswb/sbec@ottawa.ca.
