Accessibility Spotlight Accessible Parking Permits give persons with disabilities enhanced access to on-street parking
All persons with temporary or permanent disabilities are eligible to apply for a permit at no cost. To obtain a permit, you can visit your local ServiceOntario centre, or call 1-800-267-8097. Delivery of permits takes approximately three weeks via mail or fax, and seven weeks through ServiceOntario centres.
Privileges in the City of Ottawa include:
- Parking is permitted for up to four hours where “No Parking Anytime” signs have been posted (subject to the unsigned provisions of the Traffic and Parking By-law, such as parking too close to an intersection or fire hydrant).
- Where parking is permitted, time limits are extended to four hours regardless of the posted limit.
- Municipal parking at Pay & Display areas is free.
- Permit holders may be picked up or dropped off in no stopping or loading areas, so long as the driver does not impede traffic or wait for the return of the permit holder.
These specific privileges do not apply to off-street parking spaces. While in use, the permit must be displayed on the dashboard or sun visor of the vehicle in a way that the permit number and expiry date are clearly visible.
