The current circulation notice related to 975 Woodroffe Ave is a result of a motion Councillor Kavanagh put forward for consideration by the planning committee. The motion, which was supported by her colleagues, directed staff to bring forward a Zoning Bylaw Amendment to remove ‘Rooming House’ from the list of uses currently permitted in the zoning for that site. It was important to ensure that the City’s position on this site not becoming a rooming house was abundantly clear.
As part of this zoning bylaw amendment, there is a requirement in the planning act to provide notice and opportunities for the public to comment.
There has been much discussion with the community about this project, and while the Councillor encourages residents to submit their comments to the planner, she doesn’t believe a public meeting related to the zoning bylaw amendment is warranted at this time.
