It’s hard to believe that it’s already time to plan for the 2023-2024 school year, but here we are to remind you that it is! By registering for the City’s Before and After School Program (BASP), children can start or finish their day with fun active games, sports, arts and crafts. Mark your calendar: programs will be online on Friday, May 19 for browsing, and registration opens on Wednesday, May 24 at 9 pm. Program description BASPs offer a wide range of activities for children aged 4 to 12 years old to start or end the day with fun. The program is affordable and is offered in English and French. It provides children with opportunities to make new friends, be physically active, unleash their creativity and get some homework done in a welcoming, inclusive and safe environment. Prior to programs starting in the fall, parents and guardians will be given a BASP Parent Handbook, which includes more information on expectations and protocols. For children who need a little extra support, the City’s Inclusive Recreation team provides integration support staff to help children successfully participate. The City of Ottawa is a registered HIGH FIVE® organization. We are committed to healthy child development and safety for children’s recreation programs which focus on providing young people opportunities to play, participate and learn new skills. Tips for registration night In advance of registration night, create an account on the City’s new registration system. To create an account, visit register.ottawa.ca, submit your email address and create a password. Saving your credit card information on your account in advance will make check out much easier.
