January 2021 saw the first full season for the Britannia Winter Trail. Many residents took advantage of the new trail.

Loved seeing flowers in the middle of winter - what a great addition to the Britannia trail. I hope the creators of these lovely ice scultures share their art again in 2022.

March 8 is International Women's Day. The Leading Ladies and I hosted a panel of outstanding Bay Ward women. You can hear their stories on my site at BayWardBulletin.ca.
On March 8 - International Women's Day, the theme was "Choose to Challenge". I choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequity.
May
Mud Lake is a hidden gem in Bay Ward. The turtles were out en masse to enjoy the spring sun.
The LRT2 construction is so close to residents' homes. It has been a challenge. I continue to work with the Stage 2 Team and KEV to mitigation issues.
WIth COVID, the City hired park ambassadors to ensure everyone's safety. This was the first summer that Britannia Beach was open followoing its dredging the previous summer.
July

Finally we could start enjoying in person outdoor activities in higher numbers. I love to sing, so it was so much fun to join the ByTown Choir at the Britannia Park Trolley Station.
Shopping in person for fresh organic produce. COVID has been especially difficult for customer facing businesses and employees.
September
On September 17, Recovery Day, over 70 community partners joined together; to help reduce the stigma surrounding addiction and drug abuse and to raise awareness about recovery in our community.
Harvest Time - Loved to see the pop up farm at the Britannia Bakery at Britannia and Howe.
September 30th was the 1st National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
November
Held a informal ceremony at the Blood Red Memorial at Britannia Park. I thank the Northwest One Choir for having made the ceremony more special and moving.
February
We were geering up for vaccinations at the start of 2021. It seems so long ago. Now 88% of residents 5 and over have had at least one dose.
Last winter we had great conditions for winter activities on our trails. Thanks to the support of residents and businesses more trails were groomed.
April
I adopted two kittens, Bart & Lisa this year. They often keep me company while I work virtually from home like so many other Bay Ward residents. Meet Bart shown here.
Advocated to have the NCC Parkway closed Saturdays and Sundays instead of only closing Sunday mornings.
Like so many residents, I was so happy to get my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
June
On June 19thm I received my second dose of the COVID vaccine. As of December 16th, 2021, 82% of residents 5 and over are fully vaccinated.
After much persistent work, the infamous, abandoned, and crumbling house at 19 Burnbrook was finally demolished.
August
Leading Ladies hosted a summer BBQ at the Britannia Beach.
Supporting Capital Pride Week.
Glad to have been a part of the community's official celebration of the new.y built Parkhaven much needed sidewalk.
October
It's impossible to miss our new Carling Mural just west of Pinecrest. Artist Kalkidan Assefa worked youth from the Britannia Woods and Michele Heights Communities to look at what their community meant to them and how best to reflect that in a mural. The youth were also part of the painting process.

December
Every year OC Transpo and Loblaws team up for a food drive. The Bay Ward location was at Carlingwood Mall.
Christmas is coming and Santa is being COVIDWise.
On Monday, December 6th, I attended the vigil at Minto Park in remembrance of the murders in 1989 of 14 young women at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal.
Amazing volunteers from the Woodpark and Whitehaven communities who organized gift giving from residents to seniors at the New Orchard Lodge.
