Notice of the demolition of the McEwen Gas Station.
Dear Resident,
Starting early February 2019, the City of Ottawa will begin the demolition process of the existing structure and excavation at 1181 Richmond Road / 106 McEwen Avenue. The process will be completed by the end of August 2019.
Where: 1181 Richmond Road / 106 McEwen Avenue
Who: The City of Ottawa will be performing the demolition and excavation. The City will award the contract to a contractor by tender process.
Why: The City of Ottawa is proceeding with construction work, as it is required as part of Light Rail Transit (LRT) Stage 2 Early Works.
What: Recognizing the demolition will create noise and dust, the City will take proactive measures to mitigate the impact where possible and ensure the work takes place during the regular construction hours.
When: Work will begin in early-February and is expected to be completed by the end of August 2019.
Noise
Whenever possible noise generating operations will be undertaken during normal weekday work hours. The City of Ottawa Noise By-law (2017-255) allows construction activity to occur during weekdays between 7 am and 10 pm. On Saturdays, work is permitted between 7 am and 10 pm, while Sundays, statutory and public holidays work is permitted between 9 am and 10 pm.
Accessibility
Accessibility is an important priority for the City of Ottawa. It is not anticipated that this project will have any impact on public travel.
Traffic & Parking
It is not anticipated that traffic or parking will be impacted by this project.
Impact on the Right of Way and Adjacent Private Properties
It is not anticipated that the right of way will be impacted by this project.
